Acme Theater “Self Help”

14 Sep , 2015

Kicking off the fall season at Acme Theater in Maynard is “Self Help” (by Norm Foster).  This mad cap comedy is directed by Kevin Nessman and runs from September 18-October 10.   Visit Acme Theater for showtimes.

This was my second gig with the new Fujinon XF 50-140 f/2.8 lens and the first one in low light.  I still have a bunch of technique fine-tuning to do, but overall and as expected, the X-T1 AF found focus much faster and reliably than the XF 55-200 did under the same conditions.   I did the entire shoot handheld, and the stabilization on the lens is very, very good.  I’m looking forward to getting more experience with the lens and the various autofocus modes.

Technical: Fuji X-T1, 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR lens, handheld.  Most shots were at f/2.8, 1/180, ISO 1600.  Wideangle shots were with the Fuji XS100, also at ISO 1600, 1/250 at f/2.0-f/4 depending on lighting.  All processed with Lightroom CC 2015.  Mostly minor exposure tweaks to deal with lighting variations, shadows +20 for most.   I’ve been experimenting with the camera profiles a bit.   For this indoor lighting I’m starting to lean more towards Adobe’s Provia profile.  Up until recently I had my own preset that behaved a bit more to my liking, but I think it’s time to go back “into the kitchen”…
